Hello Edible Reading – please could you contact me about a Pride of Reading Award nomination. Many thanks.
Can you add a location filter to your list or maybe put the town name next to the venue name?
I’m looking for somewhere to eat, I thought I was being clever by checking Edible Reading but the top 9 aren’t in Reading, which I only found out by having to open each review. 😦
As I’ve had this feedback from a few people, I’ve added the town or city name for reviews outside Reading. I hope that makes it easier.
That’s much better, thanks!
Have you ever thought of getting a map of Reading on your site so people can look at restaurants in certain areas? Very selfish reason I am asking as I am going to the hexagon in a few weeks time and looking for a restaurant
I used to have one, but the very thoughtful person who put it together for me stopped updating it, I’m afraid. Best bets near the Hexagon are ThaiGrr, Sarv’s Slice and Sushimania.
I came here to suggest/request a map but I see Pieter beat me to it.
Can’t see a rating for Kamal’s Kitchen, which you have reviewed. Strongly recommend that you review YY (Chinese) that I rate very highly. Memories of Sichuan used to be very good, but recent visits suggest maybe a change of chef and a decline in quality. Chris
Actually no, I’ve never reviewed Kamal’s Kitchen. What do you recommend at YY?
Haven’t tried all of the menu yet (just been there twice), but definitely their dim sum that is made from scratch in the restaurant instead of being brought in: quality is excellent. Very good stir fried noodles, water spinach, mao po beancurd. I intend to try a lot more of the menu during future visits (starting this weekend). Some of the best Chinese (Cantonese) food I have had in the UK (I lived in Hong Kong for 4 years and Singapore for 2 years). Very simple and basic place that is in the back of a small Asian supermarket on Kings Road. You should, in my view, go back to Oli’s Thai, that is better than ever, but very hard to get a reservation. For Sunday roasts you might want to try The Lamb in Little Milton (near Thame) and The George at Upton, near Didcot. I was very disappointed recently by Taste of Tibet – really liked the family that runs it, but not the food, particularly the momos and the curries. Loads of suggestions in London, if you are interested. Love Clay’s Kitchen in Caversham.
